Children love to visit our relaxed and happy office. Whether you have an active six-year-old or a scared three-year-old, we are here to help you.
Choose Your Child’s Dentist with Care
You probably spent a great deal of time choosing your child’s pediatrician. Who you choose to care for their oral health is just as important. A good dentist for children knows how important it is to instill good habits early, in an environment that’s comfortable and fun, to set up a lifetime of good oral health.
There are many reasons that children’s teeth can be prone to cavities, even at a very young age. Kids can’t brush well on their own, so parents must be involved in their child’s daily dental care. This ensures both thorough cleaning and the development of proper dental habits. Little kids also tend to graze, or eat more often during the day. Every time you eat you make acid, so children’s teeth have more exposure to that acid, which may cause more cavities.
A tooth that isn’t completely clean will also be exposed to acid when food and juice contact it. This acid can be responsible for speeding up the development of cavities. The good news is that identifying poor dietary and hygiene habits, along with applying a fluoride varnish to the mineralizing teeth, can significantly reduce the risk of cavities.

Sedation Dentistry
Relax
Through Your Dental Care
Nitrous oxide sedation, also known as “laughing gas,” is commonly used to make treatment more comfortable. This sedation is inhaled through a mask that allows you to breathe in the medication and induces a state of relaxation. Local anesthetic will also be administered to eliminate pain in many cases. You will remain awake but relaxed during your visit and still be able to drive back to work after treatment, because the nitrous oxide leaves your system by the time you’re finished.
For those patients undergoing third molar extractions, we also offer IV sedation. This is a deeper and longer-lasting relaxation method, so we do require you to have a parent or adult at the office during treatment and to drive you home afterward.
